# The numbers Telvio calls from

Most people who read this page arrived from a search for a number that rang them. Here is the full list, what each number is for, and what to do about a call you did not expect.

- Published by the number's owner
- Outbound only
- Never used for SMS

In one paragraph

Telvio places outgoing calls only, and every one of them displays a single number: **+14342800044**. It identifies the app rather than the person dialling, it accepts no incoming calls and no text messages, and it never changes from user to user. If a call from it needs reporting, [support@telvio.app](mailto:support@telvio.app) reaches the team that acts on it.

## The register

One number, one purpose. We do not rotate numbers between users, we do not lease a pool of local numbers to make calls look domestic, and we do not display a number we do not hold. Those three practices are common in this industry, they are the mechanism behind most caller ID abuse, and refusing them is why this page can be one row long.

## Why a calling app shows its own number instead of yours

Caller ID is not information the telephone network discovers. It is information the originating side asserts, and the network then carries. That is the whole design, and it is the reason caller ID can be abused at all: an assertion is only as trustworthy as the rules about who is allowed to make it.

Those rules have tightened considerably. Carriers in the United States and in a growing list of other countries now expect a caller to demonstrate a right to the number it presents, and calls that cannot be attested are increasingly labelled or dropped before they ring. An app that let each user display their own mobile number would be asserting ownership of tens of thousands of numbers it has no relationship with, which is not a feature — it is the definition of the thing the rules exist to stop.

So a well-behaved app presents a number it genuinely holds and presents it consistently. The cost is that the person you call sees an unfamiliar number the first time. The benefit is that the call is attributable: somebody real holds that number, publishes who they are, and can be contacted about it. This page is that benefit, made usable.

## What we do not do with the number

- **We do not spoof.** No call placed through Telvio can display a number other than the one on this page — not your number, not a local number in the country you are calling, not a number belonging to a bank or an official body.
- **We do not send text messages.** Telvio has no SMS capability at all. A text displaying our number was not sent by us or through our carrier.
- **We do not call you.** The company places no calls of its own: no sales, no surveys, no support callbacks, no billing chases. Our contact with users is by email, from this domain.
- **We do not sell or rent the number.** It is used by the app and by nothing else, and it is not sublet to a marketing operation between calls.
- **We do not automate dialling.** Calls are placed one at a time, by a person tapping a keypad, against prepaid credit. Bulk and automated calling is prohibited by the [acceptable use policy](https://telvio.app/legal/acceptable-use/) and is grounds for suspension.

## How to judge a call from a number you do not recognise

This section is not about us. It is the advice we would give a relative, and it is here because most people reading this page are trying to answer a question about one specific call rather than about a company.

The number displayed on an incoming call is weaker evidence than almost everybody assumes. It is asserted by the originating side and passed along by every carrier in between, any of which may replace it, shorten it or drop it. That makes it useful for recognising a call you were expecting and close to useless for deciding whether an unexpected one is honest. A number you know is reassuring; a number you do not know means only that you do not know it.

What is strong evidence is the request. Every serious telephone fraud, in every country, converges on the same small set of asks, because those are the ones that turn a conversation into money. Somebody wants you to move funds to a “safe account”. Somebody wants a code that has just arrived by text. Somebody wants you to install an app so they can help you. Somebody wants card details, a password, or a payment in gift cards or cryptocurrency. No bank, tax authority, police force, courier or software company asks for any of those on a call you did not initiate, and no legitimate caller is harmed by you hanging up to check.

The defence that works against all of it costs nothing and needs no expertise: end the call and dial the organisation back on a number you found yourself, from a statement, a card, or the organisation's own website. Do not use a number the caller gave you and do not simply redial the number that called you. On a landline, wait a few seconds or use a different phone, because an older line can stay open after you hang up.

- **Urgency is the tell.** Every version of this depends on you acting before you think. A real institution will wait while you call back.
- **A code sent to you is for you.** Anybody asking you to read out a one-time code is asking for the key to an account, whoever they claim to be.
- **Remote-access software is the end of the conversation.** No support desk you did not call needs control of your phone or your computer.
- **Unusual payment methods mean fraud.** Gift cards, cryptocurrency and money transfer to a person are used because they cannot be reversed. That is the whole reason they are asked for.
- **Report it even when you did not lose anything.** Regulators act on patterns, and a pattern is built from single reports. The bodies to contact for your country are listed on our [reporting page](https://telvio.app/legal/report-a-call/).

## If a call from our number was a problem

The service is open to the public, so we cannot promise that every call placed through it was welcome. What we can do is act on the ones that were not, and act quickly, because every call is tied to a funded account and a timestamp.

Send the date, the time, your time zone and the number that was called to [support@telvio.app](mailto:support@telvio.app). You do not need an account with us and you do not need to prove anything. Our [reporting policy](https://telvio.app/legal/report-a-call/) sets out what we do with a report, how long it takes, and what we can and cannot tell you afterwards.

## If you use Telvio

Everyone you call sees (434) 280-0044, so the first call to any given person arrives from a number they do not recognise, and a relative who screens unknown numbers will not pick up. Send them the number before you dial and ask them to save it under your name — after that, your calls arrive with your name attached and nothing about the experience is unusual.

They cannot ring you back on it. Your own mobile number still works exactly as it always did; the app number is the app's identification, not a second line. If you want a number people can call you on, this is not the product for that, and [what Telvio is and is not](https://telvio.app/why-telvio/) says so in more detail.

## Bottom line

Telvio calls from one number, +14342800044, and publishes it here because the alternative is letting a crowdsourced spam board write the first thing anybody learns about the company.

The number is outbound only, carries no text messages, and identifies the app rather than the caller. Calling it reaches nothing; reporting a call reaches somebody who can act.

If you arrived from a search for the digits, [the page for that number](https://telvio.app/caller-id/1-434-280-0044/) answers the rest — what area code 434 is, why calling back does not work, and how to block it.

## Frequently asked questions

What number does Telvio call from?

Every call placed through the Telvio app displays +14342800044, written (434) 280-0044 in the North American format. It is the only number the service uses and it is the same for every user in every country.

Does Telvio use different numbers in different countries?

No. There is one outbound number worldwide. Some services lease pools of local numbers so calls appear domestic to the person receiving them; Telvio does not, because a number that changes to suit the destination is the pattern caller ID rules exist to discourage.

Can Telvio show my own mobile number to the person I call?

No, and no app of this kind can do it honestly. Displaying a number means asserting to the network that you are entitled to use it, and carriers increasingly verify that assertion. The app shows a number it genuinely holds instead.

Does Telvio ever call its users?

No. The company places no calls at all — only users of the app do. Any call claiming to be from Telvio support, Telvio billing or Telvio security is not from us. We contact users only by email, from an address on telvio.app.

Can I receive calls or texts on the Telvio number?

No. The number is outbound only and Telvio has no SMS capability, so nothing arrives on it in either direction. The app does not assign users a phone number of their own.

How do I report a call from a Telvio number?

Email support@telvio.app with the date, the time, your time zone and the number that was called. That is enough to identify the specific call and the account behind it, and you do not need to be a Telvio user to report one.
